Unplugged Woodworking: Make a Shaker Candle Box

Sunday, October 1st
10 AM - 4 PM

Instructor: Chad Stanton
Location: Sam Beauford Woodshp (Building #41)

$60 Tuition + $35 Materials
Ages 16 & Up

The first, in a three part series, of learning techniques in traditional woodworking with just hand tools. This project is a classic Shaker Candle box. Some techniques performed in this project are: how to properly cut with a hand saw, how to use different handplanes, using a brace and bit, how to make a groove and rabbet joint, and how to make a raised panel. The methods learned in this class are a good foundation for the next project that will repeat and add additional techniques to increase woodworking skill level. All materials and tools are provided for in this class.

This is a good opportunity to use a variety of bench planes and joinery planes, we have both old and new.
