Stop by the Canton tool center this weekend. They have a new location in Westland store is about the same size but they are adding a new wood and metal shop. Still a work in progress. Talked with the owner and took a tour. You will be able to get a monthly membership to use the equipment, like a Maker Space. All the woodworking equipment was new Shop Fox brand had everything you would normally find in a wood shop and a large CNC router table, and I think he was getting 36" drum sander. Said most of the equipment training (insurance requires training) will be free except for CNC equipment. Most Maker Spaces charge for classes.

Like the idea of the Makers Space just waiting for one closer to me.

Sounds pretty cool. I haven't been to their new spot yet, I don't usually go out that way. Their old location was great for me. I've scored a few great items from them... a Stanley router plane with two cutters, a really great DIsston "Victory" saw that was freshly sharpened and ready to rip, two different sizes of Starrett dividers, a 6" bevel gauge (unmarked, but appears to be an early US Stanley)... maybe another thing or two I'm forgetting.

Prices are fair on most items. Fun to stop by and look when I'm in the area.

For hand tools anyhow, I can vouch that prices are fair. I haven't nabbed anything I'd consider a "steal," but there's certainly nothing wrong with things being priced in a way where you leave feeling you got a good item for a good price for both parties. I've never even haggled on anything, everything I've been interested was stickered reasonably.

Yeah it will be nice to see another "Membership Based Workshop" in the Southeast MI. area!

I would like to see a shop open here on the Eastside, Somewhere in Macomb county would be great!

The only two I know of here in Southeast MI. are;

Maker Works in Ann Arbor, Where our monthly meetings are held!
Nice place, I have been there for several meetings. They have a bunch of different plans available for memberships. About an hour or more drive for me, So it's not really too practical for me.

TechShop in Allen Park, I haven't been to the Tech Shop yet! But a friend of mine goes there often. It's a little closer than Maker Works, But still a bit of a drive.
