I have never been there or bought from them, but heard good things. Sorry for short notice, but only found out today. The auction is Saturday, August 19th (tomorrow) in Traverse city.

70,000 sq ft of warehouse space is being liquidated.
Hundreds of exotic and domestic hardwood slabs. Rare figured exotic and domestic hardwood lumber and turn stock in many species. Exotic hardwood flooring. Machinery including 2 slabbing mills with 60" wide capacity. Clamps, saws and all kinds of power tools. Several 1000 feet of custom inlays in intricate patterns. Wood floor medallions, mantle pieces including hand hewn. Fine hand crafted slab tables, counter tops and benches. Hand crafted office furniture. Over 1,000 wood slabs and boards in stock!
PLUS The owners personal 30 year collection of rare woods, Forklifts, Dust collectors,
Specialty flooring machines, weinig molder•end matcher•herring bone machines•back scoring machine•

I saw they have ebony and rosewood boards included in the "deep discount" pre-sale / auction.

I am sorry to hear this. I've bought some really unusual pieces of wood from them. One of the reasons I am out of wood storage!

By coincidence, I was up there all weekend and partially free on Sat. but I did not see the post until Sun. Anyway what was I going to be able to bring back in a sedan?

Stopped in to Rare Earth this week on a visit to T.C. The warehouses looked empty. The guy there said that they decided to sell off equipment and inventory and try and stay in business. Their main business was flooring and they shipped wood up from South America. That's gone too.

They had some unusual wood in the showroom but it was expensive. They did have some South American Rosewood. Isn't that quite rare?
