I bought a bunch of used handsaws, all very rusty. I'm trying to de-rust them with Jay's citric acid, but I don't have a tray long enough. And it doesn't work very well to have them sticking almost halfway into the tray I am using and then reverse them. (That tray is working fine for the rusty planes I bought, and their parts.) The saws have mostly 26" blades except one is 43". Thinking of how to make a narrow plastic tray 27 or 43" long, I thought of guttering. I don't mind buying the necessary end-caps, but I don't want to have to buy a whole 10' length for this purpose. Anybody have a scrap?

Regarding width and depth, the bigger the better, within reason. I know some of the plastic stuff is smaller than regular 5" residential aluminum gutter. The max width of the sawblades is 7" which I think would lay diagonally in a 4x5" gutter. Most of the blades are smaller than that. Even if they don't quite fit width-wise, this would be significantly better than what I have now. Other suggestions welcome.

Hey Dave,

May I suggest a boot tray like the following: ... 0831528365

You should be able to fit a couple blades in there no problem. Hope this helps!
