Hello everyone. Just a quick update.
The festival so far seems to be a big hit. Due to the outstanding response, we also made a website for the event. please share it with as many people as you can. If you know of any new vendors, than they can register for a booth on the website.

This sounds fun. If you're a bit of a newbie like me and don't have much to offer beyond enthusiasm and interest, can you just... show up? Or are there tickets to purchase and the like?

This event is 100% free. All the demos and Classes are free. Just come show up and have a good time. We will be selling t-shirts, and maybe some coffee or something to help us recoup some of our costs. But you dont have to buy anything.

I am very excited about this. Even invited a coworker who doesnt do woodworking because he likes to restore old guns.

Good News, we have received many good sponsors for this event. We have recieved over 2000 in door prizes for the festival, with more coming in every day. So far we have received sponsorship from Pinewood Forge, Woodpeckers tools, Real Milk Paint, MicroJig Tools, Gator Grit, Something from citizens gas, and more prizes are rolling in. We also have a big ticket grand prize that we are keeping under wraps (hint, its electric and takes at least two strong people to carry it). We will update everyone later on.
We still would like more woodworkers to participate, so if you have skills and a good product that you are passionate about. Please contact us.

Update! The festival will be featuring antique tool sales and appraisals by the wonderful Jim Bode of http://www.jimbodetools.com. Jim is one of the premier antique tool dealers in the world. Below is one of his pictures. this is the type of quality he brings. Personally I cant wait. My birthday is the day before the festival, so i am going to leverage that as much as possible. LOL!
He will be doing free tool appraisals all day.

We are still looking for more people to set up booths to sell things. Booth space is free. If anyone needs a tent, we have partnered with a local company. They will provide you with a tent, and set it up and take it down for $25.00 total. That is a heck of a deal. if you need the tent call 5172637805 and mention that its for the great lakes woodworking/art festival on Sunday may 7th in Adrian, MI

Thanks

Festival was pretty awesome to see yesterday. I spent probably an hour and a half talking with Chad Stanton about hand planes!
Neat to see so many activities for kids to get involved as well - several craft projects (all free, I think?) that kids could make/build and take home.
Hope that this becomes an annual event.

Thad
